Depression and a Debt of Gratitude

My daughter took care of my mom after she got sick. After her passing, my daughter suffered from severe depression. A few days of feeling lost and unsure of where to go from there, she was mindlessly searching for something to watch and came across a Kdrama, which just so happened to mention BTS. She did some research and fell for them immediately. I did my own research on them and found so much hate directed at them. For the safety of my daughters mental health, I had to find out more about them. Once I found out how incredible their music and lyrics were, I started to help try to get “Make It Right” played on our local radio, with barely any results. A few short months later, on Christmas Day, my girls’ dad passed away. On the night of his death, suddenly our radio station played “Make It Right” 4 times in a 6 hour period. My girls are convinced their dad, who had jokingly teased them about listening to their music, was trying to send them a message through BTS.

BTS has truly been a source of comfort for our entire family. A light at the end of a dark tunnel. Their lyrics are so moving, and have helped give us all strength. In a year and a half, we lost 3 close family members, plus add the lock down from the pandemic. I’m positive I would be telling a completely different more devastating story had it not been for my daughter finding BTS when she did. I owe them a huge debt of gratitude!
